Ok, so I’m back…..

Standard

Hey everyone, sorry for not posting for so long, but due to super bad anaemia I have pretty much not been able to do anything over the last month or so.

But now I am back, let’s see what’s new and what’s not…good news is that I have, despite not being able to work out at all, not put much weight back on and I am now starting again at 117.1 kg. I am still feeling pretty dizzy and stuff so I am having to still take it easy and not totally kick the arse out of it in the beginning. I did an hour on the rowing machine for the last two days and it’s left me feeling pretty pooped today, so today is rest day. I wish I had some money at the moment to go back on the low carb stuff for a week or two to get things rolling again, but as I am skint I guess i will have to make do with what I have.

So much for the fitness part of my blog, now to the crafty one…since I was not really able to run around much I started loads of projects and even got one finished lol so keep your eye our for more crochet postings in the next few days… my projects include… A Tunisian crochet bag, a granny square top, an entrelac blanket from all my wooly leftovers and a couple of scarves I have in the making one of them being knitted …I hope you will enjoy them as much as much as I am.

It’s good to be back 🙂

The measurements of success

Standard

Over the last few weeks, but this morning more than any day, I have noticed why I am not struggling anymore with my weightloss. Simply because I have stopped stressing over it. Yes, it is still very important to me that I lose weight, but over all it’s my point of view that has to change, my outlook on life and the things in it and it already has changed considerably. I work out more, still not daily but at least three times a week, I watch what I eat etc.. What really matters though is that I measure success in different ways now. Before I measured my success in Kilogram or Pounds, now I measure success in many different ways.

For example last night I jumped into my friends mini bus and I noticed how much stronger my legs have got. Or when I walked past the fresh orange  juice in the shop ( I love fresh orange juice) and thought “nah, not worth wasting the calories on”, when I carry four bags of shopping at once and it doesn’t hurt my arms anymore because I have been doing weights… these are the things I measure my success with these days.

Just like this very minute, it’s lunch time and there is half a pizza (before I would have eaten a whole pizza by myself) and a bit of salad waiting in my fridge and you know what? They can wait a little while longer, because yes it might be time for lunch but I am not really hungry right now, so I will eat in half an hour maybe.

So when your weight loss is not going as fast as you like, or maybe you haven’t lost anything for a couple of weeks, don’t stress, stick to what you have been doing and think of all the other good things happening for you because you chose to change your lifestyle and I am sure you will find that you too are being successful loss or no loss 🙂

First results…

I have been living the “new” life style for two months now. Over those two months a lot has changed I find. It’s not all about my weight and how I look, though that has changed a bit too, it’s also very much about how I feel and little behaviour changes which appeared all by themselves.

Today I went shopping, just a quick in and out job because my eldest wanted to go out and he was minding the other two, so as I had to go the doctors first I had to take a cab (yes I know I should have walked anyway lol). Anyway, as I got out of the taxi I quickly wanted to go to the cash machine but there were lots of people coming from my left walking towards the cashpoint, so for the first time in at least two years I actually ran somewhere lol even if it was only to the cash machine. It was only once I was sat in the taxi again, after I have rushed through the shops carrying alsorts of bits, paid for them and then sprinted back to the taxi, that I noticed what I did and that I was not even out of breath.

Also, my heart rate doesn’t shoot up anymore when I climb some stairs or do some cleaning, thanks to the cardio I aim to do at least four times a week. One of the best ones though, yes it’s a shallow superficial one but I don’t care, my legs are so much stronger and firmer now it’s great. They still are big but got a bit more shape to them than before.

Foodwise, I do try and be good, honestly. But in the last few days that hasn’t really worked for me it being the week before the week etc.. I have changed to wholemeal pasta and bread, so I am trying to make the right choices but sweets keep distracting me, though I have to say, I have cut down lots on them and can only eat a few these days as I find them far too sweet now.

Will have a week of Celebrity slim to get things in order again I think, just to get things moving and my mind focused. Will keep you posted.

Sewing machines…do I need a degree for those?

Standard

.. Because that’s exactly what it seems like to me I knew it wouldn’t be an easy task to learn how to sew but blimey people, this is hard work for a girl with severe PMS lol I almost ended up throwing the thing out of the window. Oh and it takes so much preparation. No such thing as quickly sewing something haha. Think I am going to check out youtube for some tutorials.

Do any of you know some other good websites for total beginners like moi? If so, please post x thank you

Sorry!! So, so busy!

First of all I’d like to apologise to everyone, I have been so wrapped up in craft projects and working out that I have been slacking big time on my blog (Don’t you find it funny how a spellchecker on a Blog highlights the word -blog- as an error, kinda tickles me. But hey, small things…etc.).

So what’s new? I have still not got to try Yoga, which I am so keen to do, but as my mat and my blocks have not arrived yet I have to carry on doing other stuff. One of those “other stuff” is my new rowing machine! which is working me nice and hard and it was a big of a bargain from Argos for only £149. I have been on it every night so far and my legs and shoulders, not to mention my abs, are absolutely killing me. This is a good thing though, so at least I know I have not been lazy.

Hopefully my yoga mat will get here tomorrow so I can finally start doing that in the mornings. Look out for some more crafty posts in the next few weeks, I have soooo much planned and hope that I will find the time to do it all. Right know I am crocheting a blanket for a friends baby, I am knitting a hat out of the most gorgeous yarn I have ever seen and I have also bought some sewing fabric on ebay (Gotta love ebay). So yes, stay tuned and see what I come up with next 🙂

Oh my god, how cute are those?!

Oh my, look what I have found on my online travels while I am supposed to be working! Super cute and the pattern is super cheap too. Just a shame that my knitting is not so neat so they will not turn out like this cute little thing at all.

If any of you are going to have a stab at making one, or have knitted, sewn or crocheted any other cute little teddies, dolls and the likes I would love to see them.

The excitement that is yoga…

Standard

As previously mentioned, I am trying various workouts at the moment, to find the one that I really like and would like to stick with. All sounds a lot easier than it is, as I am a terrible fuss pot. I think you can put the challenge up there with finding the man for life… So yes, maybe it’s even impossible, haha.

Anyhow, I have got this Yoga DVD of a friend of mine and have sat down and watched this. Up until then I thought, Yoga was something more chilled out, meant for relaxation. I never thought you could actually get a really good workout from it. But yes, after having a close look, it’s a bit like Pilates and I like the whole idea of developing body strength slowly and not by jumping around like mad. Yes I know I still have a bit of a couch potato attitude, but I want to start working out slowly and not over do it and put myself off again for a long time.

So, I have ordered a yoga mat and blocks and hopefully I will become a bit of a yogi 🙂 will tell you more once I have tried it….

Oh and one totally off topic…. I dyed my hair bright red… Look 🙂

THE RED SIDE OF LIFE

Another present for Saru… Crochet in style ;-)

Standard

This Christmas me and my friend Saru have decided to only give each other hand-made pressies, as we did not get to see each other over Christmas ours will be this Saturday. Saru has only started with crochet about a year ago so she is not all that well equipped yet, therefore I decided to make her a bag for her hooks. When I started, I had no idea what it was supposed to look like once it was finished, but then I came across a really nice piece of fabric and it kind of all happened from there.

I first wanted to make the closing mechanism (would you still call it a mechanism when it comes to items like this? Oh well you know what I mean) out of ribbons which I wanted to sew at the back of the square bit, soon realised it would be too fiddly if you wanted to quickly put something away, so I went for buttons instead. But once they were on they looked really boring, so I decided to make flowers as their button holes to brighten the whole thing up ( as if the colours wouldn’t be bright enough already).

My sewing, as you can see on the close-ups really could do with refining, but I guess for my first attempt as a grown up (a grown up with terrible eye sight I may add) I don’t think it’s all that bad. But there is definitely some practice needed ( or maybe just more light when I work). Anyhow, there it is… another pressie for Saru! I hope she likes it 🙂
